If I Am Myself, Then Will I Be A Target (Self-Portrait) by Damon Arhos

Targets and Trophies | MFA Thesis Exhibition | Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA)
June 23 – July 10, 2017 in Baltimore, Maryland (Closed July 4)
Opening Reception: 5-7pm on Saturday, June 24

Experience the next generation of creative thinkers — artists, designers, filmmakers, educators, curators and critics — as they demonstrate the power and possibilities of contemporary art and design. MICA Grad Show 2017 includes exhibitions and critiques, gallery talks and presentations, public programs, a symposium, and student-curated installations throughout Baltimore City. Join a season of innovative and inspiring events and exhibitions featuring the culminating work of more than 150 of MICA’s graduate students from the College’s internationally renowned programs.

My MFA thesis exhibition explores my own identity and the identities of others. Via the appropriation of cultural imagery, ordinary objects and staged photography, I examine how our individual experiences influence gender identity, sexual orientation and human relationships.

Gallery hours: Monday through Saturday, 10am-5pm; Sunday, noon-5pm.
